An ancient tradition, kept alive by Brendan Galvin of An Siopa Dubh (The Black Shop Pub, Castlecove Village), is the annual walk to 3 holy wells on the feast day of St. Crohán, patron Saint of the Parish. St. Crohán’s Hermitage is one of the Bronze Age Copper Caves. This is a great opportunity to partake in this ancient ritual and immerse yourself in an aspect of Irish life. It is a beautiful walk, with lots of history en route.
That weekend, there is also an open-air mass celebration, festival with music, fancy dress competition, pet show and the crowning of the Festival Queen.
