Things to do

This is a part of the world where the only crime committed is that of staying indoors. Staigue Fort House is on the Kerry Way walking route and the Ring of Kerry, close to mountains, rivers, lakes and sea. Terrific walks in scenery that offers an interesting mix of geology, archeology and natural and social history. Sea fishing, rib trips, surfing, sailing, swimming, diving, lazing on the beach…A photographer’s and artist’s heaven. Night life is not only in the pub. The skies around Staigue Fort House Hotel are among the very darkest in the world so you have terrific views of the stars. Visitors have sometimes complained about a white ‘mist’ in the sky when in fact the mist is in fact the milky way – so bright here that there it makes a band of white across the sky. Night walks are lovely – listen to knatterjack toads and see rare bats. Visit rock art sites – many new sites discovered in the area by your writer (guided walks available).
Staigue Fort House B&B&B offers a nice opportunity to meet people and share stories about the day’s excitement. There are also local festivals and events throughout the year. Check out the drop down menu for this page,  Things to do, for information on some of what’s on offer.
